After typing the title I waited for a minute, but nothing happened. I know that the world is not going to end any time soon, but why the hell is everyone in such a hurry?
If you haven't observed the hastiness of your fellow Indians around you, then you are in a hurry as well. So can anyone give me a reason for all this hurriedness other than the one I have mentioned.
I had mentioned on the home page that we Indians compete for everything. This along with the aforementioned reason are responsible for almost all of the traffic jams in the country. So let me give you an example. Suppose a car breaks down in the middle of the road. All the vehicles behind this car would then start honking their horns. The vehicle just behind the car would then try to squeeze through the little space left on the road and when it is unable to do so, the result is a huge traffic jam.
What could have been the solution to the above problem? The occupants of the vehicles behind the car could have helped move the car off the road, but in our case this solution wouldn't work. As I had said before, EVERYONE IS IN A HURRY. The vehicles at the back always try to gain track positions and block the way of the vehicle in from of them. TRACK POSITION? Yes, people do consider themselves to be a part of some race and so they do try to gain 'track position'. Thus lengthening the time for which everyone gets stuck in the traffic jam.
I hate railway crossings, not because I have to wait five minutes for the train to pass by, but because I have to wait another fifteen minutes for the traffic jam to clear away. Take a look at a railway crossing after a train goes by. A road divider at the crossing is not possible. So what usually happens is that vehicles on both sides of the crossing occupy both the sides of the road. And what you get to see is another traffic jam.
Talking about traffic, people in India completely lack civic sense(owning a Honda Civic is not enough). They do not understand the meaning of simple terms like 'Speed Limit', 'No Parking' and 'No Horns Allowed'. People complain of lack of parking space when they should complain of lack of parking sense in people.
People tend to park their vehicles at the entrance of the parking lot. If there are designated spaces for parking, people use portions of two parking spaces instead of one whole space thus wasting a parking space for another vehicle.
It took me about an hour to write this post. The world hasn't ended yet(not that I was expecting it to). I just wish that my fellow Indians would understand that there is no need to hurry, the world isn't going to end any time soon.
